If you are experiencing housing instability you may qualify for additional services from Lake Oswego School District.

If you are living in any of the following situations:

Shared housing with other friends or families.
Runaway/homeless youth, and students who are not living with a parent or legally court-appointed guardian.
Temporary or transitional housing.
Emergency or domestic violence shelters.
Motels or hotels.
Campgrounds or inadequate trailer homes.
Substandard housing (homes without heat, water, or working appliances).
Cars, abandoned buildings, parks, the streets or other public spaces.

We may be able to help you:

Enroll in school.
Remain in your school if you move to another area.
With transportation to and from school.
Receive free or reduced cost school meals.
Social referrals.
Other services.

Dispute Resolution

Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises over school selection, enrollment or eligibility, the student shall be immediately admitted to the school requested, pending resolution of the dispute.

The parent or guardian of the student shall be provided with a written explanation of the district’s decision regarding school selection, including the rights of the parent, guardian or student to appeal the decision through the McKinney-Vento Act dispute resolution and appeal process, including final appeal to the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) State Coordinator.

The student, parent or guardian shall be referred to the district’s liaison, who shall ensure the resolution process is carried out as expeditiously as possible. In the case of an unaccompanied student, the district’s liaison shall ensure the student is immediately enrolled in school pending the resolution of the dispute.

Public notice of educational rights of homeless children and youth information is posted in all schools in the main office or vestibule on a designated public information posting area as well as on our school district website with user choice of language and accessibility.

Each school location has a designated point person for MV/homeless information listed to ensure parents have a contact person for questions and requests.
