Native American Heritage Month

November 1-31

Native American Heritage Month

In November, we come together to celebrate American Indian Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich history, diverse cultures, and significant contributions of American Indians and Alaska Natives to our nation and our community. The inception of this significant month dates back to 1990, when President George H.W. Bush acknowledged the profound impact that Native Americans have had on the United States. He designated November National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, signing it into Public Law. This was a historic moment, reflecting our nation's commitment to recognizing and appreciating the vibrant cultures that have shaped our country.

Our school district is proud to join this nationwide celebration. Throughout the month, our schools will host various events and activities to educate our students about the history, traditions, and values of American Indian and Alaska Native communities. These events will provide a platform for authentic voices and experiences, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation among our students and staff.
