Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month
Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month
September 15-October 15
Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month is celebrated annually from September 15 through October 15. This is the time when we pay tribute to Hispanic Americans who have had a positive impact on our nation and society. The celebration was initially established in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was later extended by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover 30 days. The law was passed on August 17, 1988. Our Lake Oswego School Board recognized Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month in our schools with a resolution from our Lake Oswego School Board.
