Before You Arrive to Your Building/Work Site
Getting started is exciting, but can be overwhelming as well. Navigate through this portion of the website to get access to tangible steps you can take throughout your first year with LOSD to help you feel connected and get timely information. Please note that there are different responsibilities with each job description, so remember to consistently check in with your administrator/supervisor to ensure that you have completed all of the necessary training and requirements for your position.

- Review hours and days of work. Learn about procedures for overtime, use of leave time, sick time, holidays, and any work procedures
- Complete any required pre-service training
- Set up your workspace and/or classroom, if possible
- Get a tour of your campus and/or workplace

First Days
Your First Days: Schedule, Job Duties, and Expectations
- Watch for the email from Human Resources to log onto the network, email, Frontline, and the Staff Website.
- Contact the LOSD Service Desk if you have any challenges or concerns with your technology.
- Complete the onboarding checklist with your school/building contact person.
- Talk with your administrator/supervisor to clarify job expectations and role responsibilities.
- Ask for contextual and historical information about your department’s goals and strategic direction.
- Complete any required training, including Frontline training for Absence Management and Professional Growth. Here are the Frontline video trainings.
- Licensed staff only will have to sign-up for PDUs (Professional Development Units) in Professional Growth in the first week of employment.
- Meet others in your department, as well as people that you'll work closely within other departments.

- Activate your ParentSquare account to receive important alerts and emergency notifications.
- Read The Current - District Newsletter on Fridays when it is sent out via email.
First Weeks
Your First Weeks: Schedule, Job Duties, and Expectations
- Learn about the Employee Health Benefits program and enroll if you are benefits-eligible and would like to participate in LOSD's benefits program.
- Review the onboarding checklist to determine if all of the content has been covered and ask any questions you may still have of your school/building contact person.
- Learn more about LOSD's Employee Assistance Program.
- Learn more about the Benefits available to LOSD employees.
- Log in to Frontline: Professional Growth to learn more about the evaluation process in the “My Files” tab. Review video training on “My Files”, if needed.

- Read your Bargained Agreement (Association Contract).
First 3 Months

- Read Understanding your pay stub prior to the first pay day.
- Sign up to be contacted Emergency Communications from LOSD.
- Review the process for inputting an absence in Frontline: Absence Management.
- Have a goal setting meeting with your administrator/supervisor. Log in to Frontline: Professional Growth.
- Read through the Student Services and Special Education web page.
- Read through the LOSD Policy Manual, make it a favorite on your computer for future reference. All employees are responsible for knowing these policies.

First 6 Months

- Take care of yourself! This is a time to make sure that you are actively keeping yourself mentally and physically healthy.
- Review the Student Services and Special Education web page.
- Read through the Staff web page. You must log in to see the staff tab.
- Review information about LOSD's Employee Assistance Program.
- Review and reflect on how you are performing your job expectations and role responsibilities.
- Licensed staff only - make sure your are tracking your PDUs in Frontline: Professional Growth. Review video trainings on “My Portfolio” and “District Catalog”, if needed.

- Check in with your administrator/supervisor and ensure you have completed your year-end evaluation in Frontline:Professional Growth.
- Discuss with your administrator/supervisor about career development opportunities for the following year(s).
