Asbestos, Lead Paint, and Fungal Testing
Asbestos Notification
In 1986, Congress passed the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). This law requires all K-12 schools to be inspected for asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM). Within these inspections, all asbestos-containing building materials have been identified and will continue to be monitored. Users of District buildings, both children and adults, have not and will not be exposed to any level of free and harmful asbestos. Covering, enclosing (boxing in), or encapsulation (painting, wrapping, or otherwise sealing) ACBM has provided the necessary protection from any possible hazards.
