Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy
The State School Board created the Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy (OSSB) to recognize and value the native language/s students speak and bring to their English academic studies, value language programs in schools, and encourage students to study languages. This award recognizes student proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking two or more languages.

How Can You Qualify?
Demonstrate an “intermediate high” proficiency or higher in two or more languages using assessments measuring proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Assessments are measured by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency Scale.
