Dear Parents & Swimmers,
I would like to introduce myself to all of you and tell you about my background and experience. I have been in the aquatic environment my whole life, starting as a baby swimmer in my parent’s pool. I grew to love the water and being a swimmer.
Starting at an early age, I swam competitively year round for local swim clubs (Tigard Aquatic Club and Tualatin Hills Swim Club) and continued through high school with seasonal swim team. I obtained both the Advanced Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor Trainer from the American Red Cross at ages fifteen and seventeen respectively.
I have been teaching swimming lessons since 1987. I have experience with several different age groups from parent/child through adults and seniors. I have taught lessons to individuals with a variety of levels and abilities. I’ve worked with the disabled, including visually impaired seniors, children with cerebral palsy, autism, attention deficit, multiple sclerosis, missing limbs, and the hearing impaired.
In 2001 I began coaching swimming. I have coached a recreational team as well as a USA swimming team.
I have been teaching Lifeguard Instructor since 2004. I enjoy teaching this class three times per year.
I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education. Currently I hold the following certifications from the American Red Cross: Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, Lifeguard Training, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid; USA Swim Coach Credentials and Safety training for swim coaches from USA swimming; Certified Pool Operator License from the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
I look forward to getting to know you and your swimmers. If you have any questions, or would like to speak to me, give me a call 503/740-7184. For more information please visit my website: BakerAquatics.com.
I hope to see you swimming soon! Angela
