Building Our Future, Together
BOND
Currently $180M: major capital improvement projects
Bonds fund major capital expenditures. In 2021, voters approved the second of a three-phased program that includes replacing Lake Oswego Junior High and River Grove Elementary buildings. The first phase replaced Lakeridge Middle School and made extensive infrastructure repairs and investments in all schools.
STATE OF OREGON - STATE SCHOOL FUND
Currently $77M: required operations, personnel, programs
Revenues subject to state-controlled distribution are allocated to districts on a roughly per-student basis. They are composed primarily of state money and certain property taxes collected at the local level. Revenues fund required and basic operations.
LOCAL OPTION LEVY
Currently $15M: teaching positions and classroom programs
The levy supplements state funding and provides critical resources to protect class sizes and unblended grade levels, instructional time to keep the current number of school days, and elective programs such as art, music, engineering, and technology. It funds the equivalent of one-third of classroom teaching positions.
LAKE OSWEGO SCHOOLS FOUNDATION
Currently $1M: teachers and educational assistants
Foundation donations help fund additional teaching positions equally across all schools in the district. It enables elementary music and more middle and high school electives.
STATE GRANTS
Currently $7.3M: social workers, teachers, intervention specialists
Student Investment Account and High School Success are grants subject to state-controlled distribution. SIA resources support mental and behavioral health needs and increase academic achievement. HHS resources help students stay on track through high school graduation.
