Building Our Future, Together
BOND
Currently $180M: major capital improvement projects
Bonds fund upgrades to failing systems and aging school replacements. Bonds may only be used for significant capital improvements, not salaries or utilities. As part of a three-phase plan to keep schools safe, modern, and functional, LOSD voters passed the first bond in 2017 to replace Lakeridge Middle School and the second in 2021 to rebuild River Grove and Lake Oswego Middle Schools.
STATE OF OREGON - STATE SCHOOL FUND
Currently $85M: required operations, personnel, programs
Revenue from the State School Fund drives daily operations, staffing, and educational programs. The state distributes revenue based on per-student funding, with additional weighting for specific student needs. Budgeted biennially, these funds comprise state dollars and locally collected property taxes.
LOCAL OPTION LEVY
Currently $16M: teaching positions and classroom programs
Levy funds sustain the equivalent of one-third of our classroom teaching positions. For 30 years, LOSD voters have renewed this local option measure every five years to supplement state funding and provide essential resources that help maintain low-class sizes, preserve instructional days, and protect elective programs.
LAKE OSWEGO SCHOOLS FOUNDATION
Currently $1M: teachers and educational assistants
Annual donations to the Foundation are used exclusively to fund educator positions in every school. Our community’s generosity supports more teaching positions and enhances learning across the district.
STATE GRANTS
Currently $9.4M: teachers, wellness staff, intervention specialists
State-controlled grants, including the Student Investment Account, High School Success, and Early Literacy Success, may be allocated to improve academic achievement, support mental and behavioral health, and advance graduation outcomes.
