• River Grove SAC Meeting 

    October 10, 2019 - 5:30 pm in Room A-5

     

    Present: Brett Dodson, Leigh Campbell, Alana Kent, Pamela Wilson, Michael Martin, Iluska Ikeda, Chandra Vallely, Jamie Harwood, Lisa Stephens, and Dan Draper

     

    • Welcome/Introductions

     

    • Brief Review of Student Success Act Survey (there is still time to complete your online survey - click here: https://www.research.net/r/losdssa)
      • Deadline to complete survey is October 14th
      • The link has been in the Raccoon Review for multiple weeks (sending again on 10/11)
      • Dan also sent a separate email to all families with the link on 10/11
      • Students can complete the survey too (grades 3-5 on their own, K-2 with parent assistance)

     

    • Review Back to School Night (BTSN) slideshow (Dan)
      • Dan ran through the BTSN slideshow with SAC to get their feedback
      • SAC members will be asked to stand and be recognized at BTSN
      • Feedback was written down by Lisa for Dan (only a few minor adjustments needed)

     

    • Review Title I Parent Involvement Policy (Lisa Stephens)
      • Lisa passed out the River Grove Title I Parent Involvement Policy and supporting documents for review by SAC
        • Initial ideas to increase parent involvement included:
          • Electronic and paper copies of surveys available
          • Capitalize on when parents are at school (Conferences, etc. - have Chromebooks/iPads available as well as paper copies)
          • Communication in multiple languages
          • Make surveys easy to complete (short & sweet)
          • Child care for evening events
      • SAC members gave written feedback to Lisa
      • SAC members were encouraged to email Lisa additional thoughts if/when they have them 

     

    • Bond Update (Jamie Harwood)
      • The following projects will be completed by the end of this month (Jamie also shared this information at the PTO mtg):
        • Innovation Lab
        • Undercover Play Area
        • New roofs on B & C pods
        • New Heat/AC units for B & C pods
        • Technology upgrades (TV monitors & audio)
        • Secure Vestibule
        • Video cameras installed (can be monitored by office)
        • Bells & Intercom (glitches being worked on now) 

     

    • Brainstorm what we would like to learn about as a SAC throughout the school year
      • We ran out of time, so Dan made this a “Homework Assignment” - email Dan topics you would like to learn about as a SAC this year
        • Some topics that already came up through our conversation included:

     

    *RG PTO meeting took place at 6:30 pm in the Library.
