AP Biology is a College Board approved, college-level biology class. Typically, students considering careers in health care, environmental studies, or biological research take this course. The AP Curriculum emphasizes a conceptual understanding of biology using the guiding ideas of evolution, energy flow, genetics and interactions. Class is a combination of lecture, labwork, field work, readings and group-based activities. Outside class, students conduct research, regularly read and engage with peer-reviewed scientific journals, and use the textbook and online resources to keep up with the curriculum. The class moves at an accelerated pace so that students feel prepared for the AP Biology test in May.
