Lakeridge Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) provides educational resources and support to LMS students, teachers, and staff. PTO welcomes engagement from all LMS families and all LMS parents (anyone who shares responsibility for the well-being of a student, including guardians, grandparents, a parent partner, or siblings, extended family members, mentors, or a combination of the above) are automatically members of the PTO. As PTO members, parents receive access to the PTO Online Directory and have voting privileges on general PTO decisions. The PTO supports LMS with Back-to-School events, athletics, Science Fair, OBOB, Outdoor School, Art Literacy Program, and organizing the 8th Grade Celebration. These programs and events depend on parent volunteers and financial donations to offer during the school year.

  •   INSTAGRAM "SHIPS": Accounts like this may represent a violation of Instagram's terms of use and/or our school rules around social media and technology use. This can result in consequences both from the social media platform (blocking users, removing accounts, etc.) and from here at school (cyberbullying is taken seriously and can result in significant disciplinary consequences).

What parents can do:  Talk to your child about your family's values and expectations around social media posting and sharing. Review each others' activities together and have honest conversations about whether the activity matches those values.

    • Don't follow accounts that engage in bullying, harassment, or unkind online behavior. Use the app's reporting tools (usually anonymous) to report bad behavior by others, block and unfollow those accounts.
    • Encourage your child to be an upstander, not a bystander. As a community, we can help each other remember to be kind online, just like we expect everyone to be kind in person.

Keep learning! Check out these handy resources:  Resharing this general social media resource from Common Sense Media
